Compliance

The frameworks we work within.

NDIS Practice Standards. Strengthened Aged Care Standards. ACNC. DSS.

Senior compliance partnership for providers who need the work done at standard - without adding a permanent executive to the wage bill. Every engagement is grounded in the framework the regulator actually uses.

00- How we think about compliance

The framework is the floor - not the ceiling.

Compliance done well is invisible. The audit passes, the board paper lands, the policy gets followed. Compliance done badly looks like late nights before a regulator visit, the same finding turning up twice, and a team that has stopped trusting that the system will protect them. We work where the second is happening and quietly turn it back into the first - one standard at a time, with the people who already know the work.

Below are the four frameworks that shape most of what we do. Each one is a starting point, not a script.

NDIS Practice Standards

The NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework sits underneath every registered NDIS provider in the country. Practice Standards, Code of Conduct, Worker Screening and Incident Management together set the operating floor - and the Commission's audit team enforces it.

Typical engagements
  • Policy and procedure refresh against the current Practice Standards
  • Audit preparation, mock audits and post-audit response
  • Worker screening and incident-management framework design
  • Restrictive-practice authorisation and reporting
  • Reportable-incidents register and response playbook
  • Re-registration evidence packs
Aged Care Quality Standards (Strengthened) engagement context

02- Aged care reform

Aged Care Quality Standards (Strengthened)

The Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards lift the bar across governance, workforce, clinical care and consumer rights - and operate alongside the new Aged Care Act, the 24/7 Registered Nurse requirement and the AN-ACC funding framework. Providers are not adjusting one standard; they are adjusting their whole operating model.

Typical engagements
  • Strengthened Standards gap analysis and readiness roadmap
  • Board and executive briefing packs against the new standards
  • Workforce planning, including 24/7 RN compliance reporting
  • Statement of Rights operational integration
  • SIRS framework refresh and incident response capability
  • Quality Indicator Program reporting and trend analysis
ACNC Governance Standards engagement context
Charity governanceFive standards + External Conduct
03- Charity governance

ACNC Governance Standards

Every registered charity carries the ACNC Governance Standards plus the External Conduct Standards. For community-services organisations they are often the framework that holds the board accountable when funding sits across multiple sources and reporting requirements compound.

Typical engagements
  • Governance framework review against the five ACNC Standards
  • Board policy refresh and constitution review
  • Annual Information Statement preparation
  • Conflict-of-interest register design and maintenance
  • Subcommittee and delegation framework
  • AGM, minute-taking and decision-record uplift
DSS and state government contracting engagement context
Funding & contractsRound-by-round
04- Funding & contracts

DSS and state government contracting

Department of Social Services grants, state-government community-services contracts and philanthropic funding each come with their own performance, reporting and acquittal requirements. The compliance burden is rarely in one place - it is in the cumulative weight of every funder's framework being met at once.

Typical engagements
  • Grant and tender submissions across DSS and state government
  • Outcomes framework design and reporting infrastructure
  • Acquittal preparation and funder-relationship management
  • Multi-funder portfolio mapping and risk register
  • Performance reporting calendar and dashboard
  • Funding agreement review and renewal strategy
A line we say often
Compliance work is only valuable if the person doing it understands the work the standard is trying to protect. Otherwise it is paperwork in search of a regulator.
Ashley Lythgo, Founder
How we work

Three principles that hold across every framework.

01

Built for the floor, not just the audit.

A policy your support worker cannot follow is a policy that will fail the next audit. We design for the people doing the work, then layer the evidence trail.

02

Evidence is a system, not a binder.

Compliance evidence should be a by-product of how the work gets done. If it sits in a separate folder waiting for the auditor, the system is brittle.

03

Hand-over from day one.

Every deliverable is built so your team owns it after we leave. We aim to make ourselves unnecessary at the end of the engagement, not extend it.

Common questions

What providers ask before signing on.

Do you take on engagements that are purely compliance-led?

+

Yes - many of our most common engagements are framed around a single framework: an NDIS Practice Standards refresh, a Strengthened Aged Care Standards readiness plan, or an ACNC governance review. The brief is sized to the framework.

Can you help a provider that has already received a notice from the regulator?

+

Yes. If you have received an audit notice, a complaint requiring response, or a compliance notice from the NDIS Commission or the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, we move on that timeline. Most engagements like these are scoped within 48 hours of the discovery call.

Are you yourselves a registered NDIS provider?

+

No - and that is the point. We work alongside registered providers as a fractional executive partner. Ashley Lythgo holds current AHPRA registration as a nurse, and we work to the same Practice Standards as the providers we partner with - but our role is the external bench, not the provider of supports.

How do you keep current with reform?

+

Compliance work is only valuable if the practitioner is current. We track sector reform through direct subscription to NDIS Commission, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, DSS and ACNC publications, and through ongoing professional development. The Insights section is a partial record of that work.

Will you produce work that we can use in our own systems?

+

Every deliverable is structured to live inside your organisation after the engagement ends. Policies are written in your house style. Templates are handed over in editable form. Frameworks are designed so your team can run them without us.

Got a framework on your desk?

Let’s work through it together.

Thirty minutes on the phone or over Zoom. We’ll work through where you are against the framework, what the gap looks like, and what a sensible plan to close it might be.
